Job Description SummaryThis role supervises a team of employees engaged in the administration and payment of producer compensation. The team ensures producer commissions are made in accordance with required scheduling, internal rules, and audit requirements while managing commission system testing activities.
Responsibilities- Provide direction and support in all phases of the commission processes and customer service.
- Develop, measure, and monitor productivity goals and quality levels of team members and redirect resources as needed.
- Identify opportunities to enhance or streamline workflows and provide recommendations to management.
- Hire, train, conduct performance reviews, counsel, coach, and develop non‑exempt employees.
- Supervise semi‑weekly commission cycles, including ACH transmissions for field agents in the U.S., Puerto Rico, and Canada.
- Ensure that the unit’s disbursement of agents’ compensation complies with internal and external rules and regulations and is completed timely and accurately.
- Perform advanced research for resolution of commission errors or inquiries, including through SQL queries.
- Assist with debt reporting processes; research and respond to complex debt roll‑up related inquiries for field agents, collection agencies, etc., and review requests for long‑term debt agreements.
- Supervise the preparation of test plans/scripts for changes to the commission system.
- Serve as liaison between commissions and IT staff or vendors/consultants to effectively test and implement system changes.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business field or equivalent experience.
- Five years of experience in the financial services or insurance industry.
- Two years of experience managing employees.
- Strong analytical skills and problem‑solving ability.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure of deadlines.
- Ability to make decisions.
- Excellent math skills.
- Advanced skills in MS Excel.
- Working knowledge of MS SQL.
- Eight or more years of commissions or accounting experience.
- Project management experience.
- Software testing/QA experience.
- FINRA Series 7 or 24.
- Office Environment.
The salary for this position generally ranges between $86,000 – $110,000 annually. The actual starting pay is determined by qualifications, experience, geography, work‑location designation (in‑office, hybrid, remote) and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.
Additionally, this position is typically eligible for an Annual Bonus of 10% based on the Company Bonus Plan/Individual Performance and is at the Company’s discretion.
Working Conditions:
- This is a hybrid position requiring three days (Tuesday‑Thursday) in office per week in one of our hub locations (Cedar Rapids, Baltimore, Philadelphia, or Denver).
