The CalSTRS Disability & Survivor Benefits Division seeks a motivated Analyst II who can also consider Analyst I experience. The Disability Services Unit assists members who are unable to perform their usual duties due to disability, evaluating applications, determining eligibility, and overseeing continuing qualifications. The role involves time‑sensitive case management, comprehensive analysis of disability applications, and clear communication with members.

• Conduct case‑management activities for an assigned caseload.
• Determine statutory and medical eligibility, process payments, and complete continuing qualification assessments.
• Communicate effectively with members, both verbally and in writing.
• Produce thorough, accurate written summaries and recommendations for management.
• Maintain high standards of organizational and time‑management skills.

• Critical‑thinking skills for analyzing complex information.
• Experience interpreting laws or regulations.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks within short time frames.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member.

CalSTRS offers a hybrid model, allowing a mix of in‑office and remote work based on business needs. All staff are California employees and must provide a current California address for remote work location.

A current Analyst II or Analyst I examination is required. Candidates must submit a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) in addition to the standard application. The SOQ should address the following:
