Kisimul Group is a specialist health, education and social care provider, delivering high-quality services for children, young people and adults with complex needs. Our services operate within a highly regulated environment and are primarily commissioned by local authorities, integrated care boards, and NHS partners.
As Business Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in delivering Kisimul’s growth strategy across both children’s and adult services. This is a senior, strategic role responsible for driving organic growth, new service development and new business acquisition, including supporting tender and framework submissions.
This role requires prior business development experience within the health and social care sector. You will understand how services are commissioned, how placement decisions are made, and how to build trusted relationships with commissioners and operational stakeholders in a values‑led organisations.
Key Responsibilities- Contribute to the development and delivery of Kisimul’s strategic growth plan, aligned to the wider Group strategy and operating within the health and social care commissioning landscape
- Develop and deliver a marketing strategy that supports brand awareness, reputation and demand generation within local authority, NHS and commissioning environments
- Create and maintain demand for Kisimul’s services, enabling Operations teams to achieve occupancy and revenue targets
- Promote Kisimul’s specialist services for children, young people and adults, identifying opportunities for expansion, new service models and geographic growth
- Lead the strategic and day-to-day management of business development activity across the organisation
- Maintain oversight of a robust and sustainable pipeline of referrals, opportunities and developments for existing and new services
- Own and oversee the marketing plan, working closely with the Marketing & Communications Lead and Associate Director of Business Development and Placements to deliver both business‑as‑usual and growth activity
- Oversee social media activity, advertising campaigns and external marketing collateral, ensuring alignment with regulatory and reputational expectations
- Ensure effective use of internal marketing toolkits by service managers, monitoring activity and addressing gaps where needed
- Identify suitable tender and framework opportunities, working closely with the Commercial Contract Manager and bid writer to submit high-quality, compliant documentation
- Build and maintain strong, credible relationships with commissioners, placement teams, local authorities, IC S and other key external stakeholders
- Develop and deliver an annual communications, engagement and events strategy to promote Kisimul’s mission, values and services
- Oversee the planning and delivery of external events in collaboration with the Marketing & Communications team
- Arrange attendance at relevant sector events and conferences, including representation by senior colleagues where appropriate
- Hold regular meetings with commissioners and placement teams to understand demand, emerging needs and market trends
- Build effective working relationships with Operations, Quality, Finance and Business Support teams
- Regularly visit Kisimul services to develop strong relationships with Registered Managers, Heads of Care, Education teams and senior leaders
- Ensure business development activity is aligned with operational capacity, quality standards and regulatory requirements
- Be accountable for the capture, analysis and reporting of business development and marketing data
- Set and monitor referral generation and engagement targets for Operations and commercial teams
- Use data to inform decision‑making, pipeline management and strategic planning
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of the health and social care market, including commissioning trends, regulatory requirements (e.g. CQC) and funding models
