Role OverviewWe are seeking a Business Development Associate to support our growing portfolio of startup partnerships and technology programs. This role blends program management, business operations, and innovation partnership support, helping to scale the impact of Ventures’ initiatives across the enterprise.
You will work closely with the Business Development and broader NYL Ventures team to manage NYL Ventures’ portfolio of enterprise startup technology programs, coordinate pilot initiatives, support reporting and storytelling, and help drive engagement between startups and internal business units. This role sits at the center of Ventures’ efforts to scale innovation across New York Life — ensuring that high-impact startup partnerships deliver measurable value to employees and customers alike.
WhatYou'll Do Team Operations
- Manage monthly reporting for the Business Development team, ensuring CRM data accuracy and alignment with team goals.
- Support quarterly and annual reporting efforts, working with the Ventures Head of Platform to represent BD initiatives and metrics.
- Contribute to NYL Ventures’ storytelling efforts by highlighting key startup partnerships and innovation successes across internal and external channels.
- Assist with planning and execution of events, including annual meetings, Chat with a Founder panels, and Venture community gatherings.
- Oversee NYL Ventures’ portfolio of enterprise startup technology programs used across the business, supporting user onboarding, training, and adoption.
- Collaborate directly with startup partners to test new releases, troubleshoot issues, share feedback, and identify new use cases.
- Manage relationships with key startup partners, serving as their primary point of contact and ensuring alignment between partner goals and New York Life’s strategic priorities.
- Partner with NYL Technology and business units to promote and expand usage of venture-backed tools across the enterprise.
- Conduct monthly reporting on program-performa nce, user engagement, and growth opportunities.
- Assist in sourcing and screening high-quality startups aligned to NYL’s strategic priorities.
- Conduct market research and diligence on emerging technologies and trends.
- Build internal relationships to understand business needs and identify potential innovation opportunities.
- 2–4 years of experience in business development, sales, marketing, program management, consulting, or corporate innovation.
- Strong organizational skills with an eye for detail and follow-through.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear insights.
- Experience working cross-functionally and managing multiple stakeholders.
- Curiosity and a “test-and-learn” mindset, with enthusiasm for experimenting, iterating, and continuously improving.
- Team-oriented and coachable, with a proactive approach to feedback and collaboration.
