We deliver critical support primarily to federal government agencies and are seeking a highly skilled Business Developer to lead our business development efforts.
Position SummaryThe Business Developer leads the company’s growth strategy across the Department of Defense (DoD) and Federal Civilian Agencies, developing, shaping, and winning opportunities that align to the Company’s core business areas. The ideal candidate possesses strong relationship‑building skills, understands government contracting and the acquisition cycle, and has working knowledge of the FAR.
EssentialJob Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead business development activities within the Company’s markets, including training and simulation, professional services, and technical support.
- Build, nurture, and maintain trusted relationships with current key customer organizations and develop new relationships with customers, organizations, and commands.
- Engage with government customers, industry partners, primes and subs to support opportunity development.
- Identify emerging needs and translate them into actionable business opportunities across defense and civilian markets.
- Shape early requirements, influencing solution direction and program structure.
- Track market intelligence, competitor activities, budgets, and procurement strategies.
- Build and manage a robust pipeline covering short‑term and long‑term growth objectives.
- Report regularly to leadership on business development status, forecasts, pipeline, and pursuit strategies.
- Accountable for bookings growth, pipeline health, and win rates aligned to company growth objectives.
- Lead pre‑capture and capture activities for major pursuits; develop win strategies, price‑to‑win inputs, partnership strategies, and competitive positioning.
- Lead opportunity gate reviews, risk assessments, and opportunity qualification processes.
- Work with teaming relationships, NDAs, and negotiate teaming arrangements to strengthen competitive posture.
- Partner with proposal teams to develop compliant and compelling technical, management, and pricing volumes.
- Collaborate with executive leadership, PMO, Contracts, Finance, IT, and Quality teams to ensure alignment and compliance.
- Promote integrity, transparency, and ethical conduct in all business development activities.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Management, or a related field.
- 5 years of U.S. defense business and/or federal civilian business development experience, preferably supporting DoD programs. Experience supporting Army programs a plus.
- Proven track record of winning multi‑million‑dollar opportunities in public, government, or defense environments.
- Demonstrated success leading capture efforts for opportunities valued at $5M+.
- Direct experience working with customer organizations, acquisition cycles, and budgeting.
- Proven ability to influence and communicate effectively across government and industry.
- Ability to build customer trust, influence requirements, and develop strategies that lead to measurable wins.
- Experience with market research and associated tools, capture strategy, and Gate Review processes.
- Computer skills with proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to excel in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment, leading a broad variety of duties.
- Takes ownership and responsibility for assigned tasks and bookings achievement.
- Focuses on teamwork and puts the success of the team above own interests.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and clean DMV record.
- Ability to travel.
- Ability to work in an office environment, although majority of work will be remote (from home).
- Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (Constant).
- Familiarity with Army training and simulation environments and Army modernization initiatives.
- Familiarity with AI‑enabled training systems, autonomy, cybersecurity, and next‑generation simulation architectures.
- Posses or have the ability to obtain a Top‑Secret clearance.
