Position: SENIOR CONTRACTING OFFICER, Contracting

Senior Contracting Officer – Boston University Medical Campus

Reporting to the Associate Director of Contracting, the Senior Contracting Officer (SCO) is responsible for the review and negotiation of all sponsored programs agreements such as grants, cooperative agreements, contracts, fee‑for‑service engagements, and other non‑funded agreements from federal and non‑federal sponsors. The SCO works in a highly collaborative environment, serving as the subject‑matter expert on federal and non‑federal contracting regulations, negotiations, and best practices.

They support the development and maintenance of guidance materials related to federal and non‑federal contracting, and provide excellent customer service to faculty, administrators, and sponsors while meeting all service level agreements.

Responsibilities

  • Review, redline, negotiate, and provide feedback for all sponsored programs related agreements.
  • Represent Boston University to sponsors.
  • Engage with systems and processes supporting the life cycle of an agreement.
  • Keep abreast of changes to sponsor regulations and policies, and the broader research landscape.
  • Support the RFP review, agreement review, and acceptance process.
  • Meet all service level agreements of the department and provide excellent customer service.
  • Use emotional intelligence, elevate issues as necessary, and promote a professional environment.
  • Apply logical problem‑solving to independently resolve difficult challenges.

Qualifications

  • At least 7 years of related experience and a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience.
  • CRA certification preferred; encouraged to sit for the Certification Research Administrator Exam.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and non‑federal contracting regulations, negotiations, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and customer‑service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively.

Additional Information

  • This position is eligible for remote work.
  • This is a 18‑24 month term position.

Salary

  • Grade 51: $ to $ (range may vary).
