Key ResponsibilitiesThe Director of Licensing & Carrier Contracting leads all aspects of insurance licensing, carrier appointments, carrier portal access, and agency book of business migration for our Employee Benefits and Property & Casualty practices. This role ensures seamless onboarding and integration for new and existing associates, driving operational excellence and regulatory compliance. The Director oversees a diverse team of US-based and offshore professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
Develop and implement departmental strategies to support organizational growth, process efficiency, and team development, with clear KPIs for licensing and carrier appointment timeliness and accuracy and book of business migration completion.
Oversee the integration of newly acquired agencies, ensuring timely migration of books of business in compliance with carrier requirements.
Manage all aspects of agent and agency licensing, including application submission, renewals, compliance monitoring, and issue resolution.
Establish, document, and maintain standardized processes and service level agreements (SLAs) for all teams, regularly reviewing performance metrics and driving continuous improvement.
Maximize the use of technology platforms (e.g., Agent Sync), implement best practices and align with industry standards.
Oversee and manage the team’s ticketing system (Freshdesk) by monitoring work volume, tracking performance metrics, and ensuring consistent adherence to established service level agreements (SLAs). Regularly review ticket queues to prioritize tasks, identify bottlenecks, and allocate resources effectively. Analyze ticket resolution times and service quality to ensure the team meets or exceeds SLAs and implement process improvements as needed to maintain high standards of responsiveness and stakeholder satisfaction.
Build and nurture relationships with key insurance carriers and technology vendors to improve cooperation, responsiveness, and define best practices.
Monitor carrier, state, and legal requirements related to licensing and onboarding to ensure full compliance.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Sales, Compliance, IT, Finance, and M&A) to align processes and resolve escalated issues.
Track, analyze, and report on departmental KPIs, providing regular status updates to local offices and senior leadership.
Lead, mentor, and support agency onboarding, carrier portal, and licensing teams, including US-based and offshore staff.
Manage departmental resources, including budget, schedules, and projects, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
Develop and continuously improve standard operating procedures for onboarding, licensing, and portal management.
