DESCRIPTION: The Center for Workforce Research and Information manages the programs that provide the most important information about labor market conditions in Maine. These programs inform the public about employment, unemployment, and wages for the state and local areas. The Senior Workforce Data Analyst is a 15 hour per week position contributing to the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) team.

QCEW is the foundation for labor and other economic statistics in the U.S.

This position collects, reviews, and classifies data provided by employers. The work entails coding employer accounts through internet research about the nature of a business, as well as email and phone contact to collect additional information. Attention to detail and working collaboratively with a team are important to success. Most members of our team primarily work from home several days a week and some work primarily in our Augusta office.

Our full staff usually joins together in the office on Wednesdays. Our team offers flexibility, work life balance, job security, work accommodations and support for wellbeing.

REPRESENTATIVE TASKS:
  • Research the nature of business to assign industry codes to employer accounts.
  • Contacts employers to collect information and obtain clarification regarding provided data.
  • Enters, and reviews for quality, data provided by employers.
  • Analyzes, reviews, and edits data to ensure accuracy and completeness.

REQUIRED:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Intermediate to advanced education, training, and/or experience in data analysis, data collection, data production, labor statistics, economics, or another related field with demonstrated experience in a role working with data and providing mentorship.

with knowledge of, experience in the following:
Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages or other labor statistics programs, industry classification (North American Industry Classification System), data collection, QUEST or other labor statistics software.
