Strategic Customer Development Manager, New England - Business Cards & Payments (Remote‑Eligible)

Capitalize on a role that deepens relationships with small and commercial businesses through Capital One’s Business Cards and Payments portfolio. As part of the Strategic Customer Development team, you will partner with executives, purchasing managers and internal sales and product teams to optimize rebates, benefits and usage of Capital One card programs, while growing spend and ensuring high levels of retention.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of clients with a key focus on retention, growth and risk management.
  • Analyze the company’s total business spend to identify additional opportunities to leverage Capital One Commercial or Small Business Cards.
  • Offer ongoing vendor‑match and spend‑enablement services; leverage results to increase AP file penetration.
  • Learn about the client and the specific industry vertical in which they operate; understand purchasing needs and behavior.
  • Build trusted advisor relationships, handle client needs and coordinate client appreciation activities.
  • Resolve issues and provide solutions to clients in a timely manner.
  • Monitor portfolio metrics and perform quarterly account reviews.
  • Partner across the value chain to meet client needs.
  • Seek new business referrals once relationships have been established.

  • Use consultative selling techniques to teach prospective customers how to leverage payment solutions effectively.
  • Design and implement plans with the client’s AP and internal Capital One partners to meet expected returns from card programs.
  • Build broad and technical product knowledge and an understanding of how client‑side processes work with our products and services.
  • Work independently, seek out feedback and data to improve performance.
  • Maintain and update CRM system regarding customer calls, pipelines and closed opportunities.
  • Project and process management, interpersonal influence, networking, project ownership, and workflow management skills.
Basic Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of experience in a business client‑facing role.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience.
  • At least 7 years of experience in a business client‑facing role.
  • At least 2 years of experience supporting business credit card products.
  • 1+ year of experience using , Microsoft Office and Google Applications.

Salary & Compensation

The minimum and maximum full‑time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Salaries for part‑time roles will be prorated based on the agreed number of hours to be regularly worked.

  • Sales Territory: $138,100 – $157,700 for CML Card Client Development Manager
  • Remote (regardless of location): $138,100 – $157,700 for CML Card Client Development Manager
  • Richmond, VA: $138,100 – $157,700 for CML Card Client Development Manager

Role is eligible to earn performance‑based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long‑term incentives (LTI).
