Senior Operational Buyer

Strong operational procurement background with proven experience in raw material buying, supplier management, and inventory performance within a manufacturing or engineering environment.

I am working with a global engineering and technology organisation is seeking a Senior Operational Buyer to join its Supply Chain team on a full-time, permanent basis in Bristol.

Senior Operational Buyer

Permanent

Full Time, 37.5 hours per week

Bristol (Hybrid - 3 days onsite / 2 days working from home; increased onsite presence during initial training)

Up to £51,000

• Managing raw material procurement to ensure reliable supply aligned with production requirements.
• Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships, including negotiation and performance management.
• Working cross-functionally with planning, production, and commercial teams to support business objectives.
• Contributing to continuous improvement of operational buying processes and systems.
• Supporting and mentoring Buyers to strengthen team capability.
• Producing and analysing Supply Chain KPIs to improve service levels and inventory performance.

• Experience in operational buying or procurement within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills at all levels.
• Excellent planning, organisation, and time management in a fast-paced setting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
• Effective influencing and negotiation skills with suppliers and internal teams.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
• Strong commercial awareness balancing cost, quality, and service.

• Experience with continuous improvement in supply chain or procurement.
• Mentoring or supporting junior Buyers.
• Familiarity with KPIs, inventory optimisation, and production-driven purchasing.

For the position of Senior Operational Buyer / Senior Buyer / Operational Buyer / Procurement Specialist, candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK and be able to commute on-site to Bristol as required.
