As the Lead Analyst for the Middle East and North Africa, you will be GSMA Intelligence’s expert and first point of contact for insights across a wide range of topics, including operator strategy, network transformation, AI and emerging technologies, satellite, digital content, climate and sustainability, digital policy and regulations, and the socio‑economic impact of mobile technologies.
You will track key developments across the digital ecosystem in the region and work closely with the regional team, key ecosystem players, and GSMA Intelligence colleagues to derive insights and articulate their implications for the telecoms industry. These insights will be disseminated through long‑form and short‑form reports, presentations and other formats with internal and external stakeholders.
You will maintain existing relationships and develop new ones with industry players, including mobile operators, vendors, international organisations and regulators, using analyst briefings, one‑to‑one meetings and industry events to draw insights and identify opportunities for collaboration.
Working closely with the MENA regional team will be a key priority and opportunity to leverage GSMA’s assets to support their agenda and relationships. In addition to report delivery, you will source new consulting and subscription business, develop proposals and work plans for project delivery, and represent GSMA Intelligence as a speaker at regional events.
Key Responsibilities- Shape research outputs and stakeholder engagement across the MENA region.
- Collaborate with GSMA’s broader team (Data Forecasting, Consulting, Research, Economists, Sales and Marketing) to drive synergies.
- Deliver thought‑leading analysis through reports, presentations, and other formats.
- Identify and pursue new consulting and subscription business opportunities.
- Represent GSMA Intelligence at regional events and forums.
You have demonstrable knowledge of telecoms industry dynamics and a solid understanding of the telecoms business, technology, and policy landscapes in MENA. You can analyse the impact of developments on mobile and broader telecoms sectors, and you possess fluent written and oral communications skills in English (Arabic an advantage). You are confident communicating insights to both internal colleagues and external stakeholders, including senior management and board‑level individuals.
As this is a generalist role, you will be willing to develop expertise across multiple topics. Experience in modelling or quantitative analysis is a plus. You have a proven track record of building and maintaining industry relationships, working in a team while also exercising self‑discipline to meet targets. You demonstrate excellent cultural awareness and the ability to work with globally dispersed teams.
