The Category Management & Strategic Sourcing Senior Manager is accountable for end‑to‑end sourcing and contracting of business process outsourcing (BPO) products and services across The Cigna Group. Responsibilities include driving sourcing strategies, managing the competitive bid process, recommending a supplier that best meets the business objectives, and delivering a negotiated contract that governs the supplier relationship.

The Senior Manager leads a team of two to three U.S.–based employees. The team executes projects of varying sizes and complexities, including non‑competitive bids. Contracting includes master service agreements and statements of work. The team coordinates with internal stakeholders such as operations, IT, legal, information protection, and privacy. The Senior Manager is an escalation point for navigating decisions with these stakeholders.

A successful Senior Manager balances team management and project prioritization, reduces supplier fees, and improves service delivery.

• Develop annual category plans that include supplier market trends, spend analysis, and strategic business objectives.
• Proactively identify, develop, and execute supplier‑enabled projects that drive cost savings, risk reduction and quality improvement.
• Lead, manage, and coach a team of professionals.
• Execute Master Service Agreements, Statements of Work, and Change Orders that optimize benefits and minimize risks.
• Work with the Third‑Party Management team to create and manage mutually beneficial long‑term supplier partnerships, consolidating the existing supplier base.
• Provide scheduled and ad‑hoc reporting on supplier and category performance.
• Support continuous improvement of the sourcing and procurement process.
• Maintain and promote sound relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Serve as a valued advisor to business buyers of consulting and professional services.

• BA or BS in Business, Supply Chain, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
• Eight or more years of progressive experience within a large, global organization.
• Excellent project management, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Structured problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
• Ability to apply fact‑based negotiation principles and tactics.
• Fundamental understanding of corporate and administrative supply chains.
• Ability to work well in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment.
• Previous people‑management experience preferred.
• Cross‑functional business team experience preferred with ability to foster working relationships across internal departments.
