Purpose of the RoleThe Bid Writer will be responsible for creating high-quality, compelling written content for bids, tenders, and proposals that support IES Utilities growth strategy. Working as part of the Major Programmes & Bids team, this role will ensure submissions are clear, persuasive, and aligned with client requirements and company objectives. The Bid Writer will collaborate closely with subject matter experts, the Bid Manager, and other stakeholders to produce winning documents that enhance IES Utilities reputation as a Tier 1 contractor.
Key ResponsibilitiesContent Development
- Write, edit, and proofread bid responses, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and compliance with client specifications.
- Translate technical and operational information into persuasive, client-focused language.
- Maintain consistency of tone, style, and branding across all bid documents.
- Ensure all written content meets governance, compliance, and quality standards.
- Review and refine responses to maximise scoring potential against evaluation criteria.
- Maintain and update a library of standard responses, case studies, and supporting materials.
- Identify opportunities to improve bid writing processes and templates.
- Stay informed about industry trends, client expectations, and best practices in bid writing.
- Proven experience in bid writing within utilities, infrastructure, or construction sectors.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to convey complex technical information in a clear, persuasive manner.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Familiarity with tendering processes and compliance requirements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and document design tools; experience with bid management software is desirable.
- Delivery of high-quality, compliant, and persuasive written content for bids and tenders.
- Positive feedback from internal stakeholders and clients on clarity and impact of submissions.
- Contribution to improved win rates and overall success of the Major Programmes & Bids team.
- Maintenance of an up-to-date, well‑organised content library for future bids.
