Job Title:
National Business Development Manager

Head Office in Huntingdon
Based from HQ. Can work from home 2 days per week but focus on client visits
(encouraged HQ based first 3months to gain knowledge/skillset & internal relations).
Hours:
Full-time (37.5hrs/wk) 8.30am-4.30pm Mon–Fri with 30min lunch break.
Holiday: 26 Days paid annual leave plus bank holidays
Term:
Permanent contract (standard UK employment ‘6 month probation’ applies).
Basic Salary: £40,000 to £55,000 based on track record in ecommerce packaging sector.
Commission: 2% uncapped on first 12month spend of self-generated profitable new business.
(1% if handed-over a pre-priced opportunity to close).
OTE: £67,000+
Benefits: £300/month car allowance plus mileage @19p/mile plus insurance paid monthly. Private Healthcare (Vitality), mobile & laptop, free unlimited freshly-ground coffee.
Primary: £600,000 p.a. New Sales* (Yr1 target £325,000: each month rises £5,000 from £0 expectation month1; £5,000 month2; £10,000 month3; £15,000 month4…)
* Definition:
Persuading a buyer (new prospect or lapsed customer) to purchase something that Lil have not previously supplied and target value includes all repeat orders for first 12months from first order. (targets are subject to change to ensure they are always S.M.A.R.T.)
Expectation:
Minimum 20x daily dials resulting in ‘Meaningful Sales Interactions’.Minimum of 2x F2F pre-booked meetings per week. NO order processing admin or incoming call handling whatsoever.
** Definition: telephone conversations with the qualified buyer/decision maker. Therefore excludes switchboard level. [

the majority of leads will already have been researched/qualified and full product knowledge training will begiven in order to carry out the task with confidence and understanding of the company’s products].
Objective:
Our new manufacturing HQ has capacity for £40m Rev (currently £15m) - Help us fill it.
Experience:
A proven track-record in senior-level packaging sales to internet retailers is essential. The candidate’s ambition & determination must rival our directors.
- Research new clients, products, markets & exhibitions/events on a national basis.
- Prospect/cold-call using own initiative, industry knowledge & best practices eg. Linked In Nav .
- Persuade new prospects (20,000+ qualified) and lapsed customers (4,000+qualified) to place physical orders and / or accept a meeting to establish packaging needs.
- Maximise profitable opportunities by understanding client operation savings vs price paying.
- Increase company participation in tendered packaging opportunities.
- Close opportunities with values ranging £5,000 - £1,000,000.
- Route Optimised national visits (min 2, max
4) for days on road with first visit from 8:30am. - Generate & attend meetings(online or on-site) supported by Outlook/Zoom/Teams/Calendly.
- Log calls efficiently (max 100 characters) ensuring CRM (Shuttleworth) well-maintained.
- Attend Exhibitions & relevant training courses to develop knowledge, techniques, and skills.
- Adhere company policies & procedures related to Health & Safety, Quality & Management.

Person Specification- Positive mindset with care of their work, clients & colleagues.
- Proven track record of senior-level sales is essential, ideally in selling packaging to retailers.
- Highly motivated and able to work effectively under own initiative.
- Confident in liaising with company Owners/Directors and prestigious blue chip companies.
- Ability to challenge / persuade prospect if hurdles need overcoming
- Excellent commercial acumen
- Comfortable making unsolicited calls
- Maximises ‘cold call effectiveness’ adapting prospecting method (eg. Linked In/ teams)
- Superb telephone manner & communication skills
- Quick thinker
- Team Player
- Very strong interpersonal skills.
- Confident and able to engage with internal and external stakeholders.
- Pro‑active work ethic
- Organized and efficient.
- Basic computer skills to include Microsoft Office and Linked In. (CRM training will be given).
- Educated to a minimum standard of 5 GCSEs grade A-E.
