Overview
We are seeking a Year Round Undergraduate Clerical Intern to support managers, staff, and administrative professionals in Organization 8610, Earth Systems.
Responsibilities- Support office functions, including administrative processes.
- Use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook in performing daily operations.
- Work closely with administrative professionals to ensure that tasks are completed in a timely and accurate manner, learn best practices, and develop a comprehensive understanding of administrative functions.
- Engage with staff to provide support, address questions, and assist with organizational duties.
- Assist in preparation of documents, including forms, reports, slides, charts, etc. in accordance with Sandia's policies and procedures.
- Assist in editing and formatting documents for both internal and external recipients.
- Assist in handling telephone communications and receiving visitors, including ascertaining the nature of calls or visits; taking messages or scheduling appointments; responding to routine questions; and/or referring individuals to appropriate sources of information.
- Be an information resource to managers and staff.
- Assist in placing purchase orders and supply orders.
- Assist with meeting preparation, including copying and collating.
- Assist with the upkeep of building records, such as rosters, space documents, phone, and data port logs.
- Assist with special event planning.
- Assist with mail distribution and mailbox upkeep.
- Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5/4.0
- Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
- Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship
As a condition of employment, the selected candidate will be represented by the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU), which requires monthly membership dues or agency fees.

- Strong, professional written and verbal communication skills
- General office skills including use of the Microsoft Office Suite of tools (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Highly organized and strong attention to detail
- Ability to follow complex work processes with accuracy and speed
- Good multitasking capabilities and strong customer service focus
- Ability to problem solve
