Overview
We are hiring an Administrative Support Specialist for the Public Transportation Department. This role supports the operations dispatch team and department timekeeper to ensure bus operator schedules align with actual hours worked.
Responsibilities- Document and reconcile bus operator schedules from dispatch software daily.
- Prepare weekly schedule uploads and coordinate with operations superintendent and dispatch leads.
- Assist with bus operator leave requests and schedule inquiries.
- Maintain operations section records and filing.
- Coordinate and order operating supplies.
- Answer and direct phone calls to appropriate personnel.
- Perform other related administrative duties as assigned.
- Remote work schedule opportunities may be considered after successful completion of probation.
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent with at least 4 years of related experience.
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar with at least 2 years of related experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar with related experience.

Background and ScreeningAll applicants are subject to a satisfactory background check covering criminal history, education verification, and employment history. A satisfactory Municipal Employment Office conducted background check is required for appointment.
Other Requirements- Current copy of Alaska Driver’s License and a driving record dated within 30 days of request (or prior vehicle license history if issued within one year).
- All certifications and licenses must remain current.
Veterans seeking interview preference must attach DD Form 214, DD Form 256, NGB Form 22, or a letter from the US Department of Veterans Affairs indicating honorable discharge. Current National Guard or Reserve members must provide proof of current service. Minimum qualifications must still be met.
