The Bradford Child Death Review process (CDR/CDOP) requires a competent administrator to join a small, friendly and efficient team who work closely to manage the child death review process. The post holder will need to collate data on each child, meet deadlines, and maintain standards relating to administrative processes. They will be expected to work without direct supervision at times, whilst dealing with material, the content of which will require a very high degree of emotional resilience and confidentiality at all times.
This post will require an individual with well-developed interpersonal skills who enjoys working as a team member as well as independently.
There is a degree of unpredictability of service need and the post holder must be adaptable and flexible.
Since 1st April 2008 there has been a legal requirement that Child Death Review Process conducts a review for all child deaths aged 0-17 years who reside in their area.
With the purpose to look at the circumstances around the child and determine what can be learned to prevent further deaths and better support families and communities affected by the death of a child.
Utilise excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with a wide range of people at all levels and external agencies.
Open all descriptions of mail and distribute/dispatch accordingly, ensuring appropriate action is taken with high priority material.
Daily use of eCDOPa web-based tool used in the management of the child death process. This will involve the processing of child death notifications, requesting information from a variety of agencies requiring influence and tenacity; liaising with QES who host eCDOP regarding updates: fixing user problems and making suggestions for improvement. Ad-hoc training of users may also be required.
General administrative duties with administrative support for the arrangement of meetings, taking minutes, general email and telephone enquiries, rota preparation and distribution.
Assist in the preparation and production of reports for the CDOP as required.
Compilation of the CDOP newsletter and update of the CDOP website.

Job PurposeThis is a key post in the provision of administrative and clerical support to the Child Death Lead/SUDIC Key Worker and SUDIC Team. The administrator is an important and integral part of the team and applicants must be flexible and able to work in a demanding and emotional department.
JOB DIMENSIONSThe post involves working under direct supervision of the Child Death Lead/SUDIC Key Worker to provide a comprehensive administrative service to the Child Death Review process and SUDIC Paediatricians. The main duty of the post will be administrative support to the team.
Duties include completing forms, requesting information from external agencies, telephone answering, copy typing, data inputting, communicating with other clerical staff and healthcare staff from our own and other departments and wards by phone or email, as well as general office duties, including filing and photocopying. You will be required to deal with external agencies.
Primary Duties And Areas Of Responsibility- Work within Trust and Department standards and policies. This includes written and verbal instructions.
- Word processing using Microsoft Word, Outlook and Ecdop system
- Locate and request medical information from other departments appropriate to the work being undertaken
- To communicate and deal compassionately with families
- Answer the telephone and take accurate message with the department
- Collate and prepare cases for discussion.
- Liaise with external agencies in collating relevant information for each case.
- Ensure that any reports received are input and filed in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date filing system.
- Liaise with other departments within the Trust as requested.
- Photocopy and scan any papers as and when required.
- Prepare and distribute staff rota
- Any other duties required by Child Death Lead/SUDIC Key Worker and Team.
