Overview
At the Larimer County Department of Human Services, we strive to be responsive and provide timely resources in partnership with our community so that individuals and families are healthy, supported, and safe. We are seeking a highly motivated, innovative, and enthusiastic staff member to join our Benefits and Community Support (BCS) Division as an Administrative Supervisor.
The Administrative Supervisor leads and supports a team of Administrative Specialists that staff a phone team for the main public benefits line for the department, and prepare applications and route documents to be worked and processed by the appropriate staff. This position is expected to provide backup when needed to support the volume of incoming work and to be strategic in managing and balancing the workload across the team.
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position follows a hybrid work arrangement and requires a minimum of one in‑office day per week. Adequate internet access and a dedicated workspace are required for remote work. Larimer County provides a one‑time remote work stipend to support equipment and office supply needs for remote work spaces.
Responsibilities- Oversee the activities and personnel that provide administrative support to the eligibility teams processing food assistance, medical assistance, and financial assistance.
- Develop and implement plans, priorities, procedures, and guidelines to support quality customer service over the phone and timely processing of documents.
- Hire, train, and evaluate administrative staff.
- Assign and adjust workloads to meet department deadlines and client needs.
- Review case documentation and actions.
- Advise and assist staff when working with clients over the phone, work methods, control systems, and the interpretation and application of policies and procedures.
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of administrative staff who answer client questions over the phone and prepare and route documents for processing.
- Establish clear, specific, and measurable expectations and goals for staff.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with staff and customers at all levels.
- Apply critical thinking and research to support sound, well‑reasoned decisions.
- Foster teamwork by setting a clear tone, focus, and sense of purpose.
- Address stress and conflict constructively and appropriately.
- Work efficiently while applying strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
- Actively pursue professional development to build the skills, qualifications, and experience needed for continued success.
- Demonstrate strong leadership within inter‑ and intra‑agency teams.
- Advocate for Larimer County Human Services positions while maintaining credibility and positive working relationships.
- Serve as a responsible steward of public resources.
- Deliver effective public presentations to audiences with varied interests and backgrounds.
- Five (5) years of experience in a related field.
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience required.
- Possess reliable transportation to work in any County facility as needed and required.
