SalaryThe salary range for this position is $50,417.50 to $79,471.38 for Schedule A and $50,417.50 to $71,144.74 for Schedule B. New hires receive the minimum of their schedule’s range. Current Judiciary employees receive a promotion bonus of 5% of base salary, not exceeding the schedule maximum or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater. Employees hired before August 20, 2014 are Schedule A; those hired on or after that date are Schedule B.

The Civil Division of New Jersey – Essex Vicinage seeks a self‑motivated lead worker to oversee teams or groups of non‑subordinates, regulate workflow, provide training to Judiciary Clerk 2 and 3 staff, report unresolved issues to management, analyze cases, review data entry for quality control, liaise with attorneys and judges, interview clients for required information, apply statutes and court rules, and analyze reports for action.
The selected candidate may also be required to attend court as a backup and perform other duties as needed.
The position may qualify for up to two days of remote work outside Judiciary buildings under a hybrid schedule. Remote work requires installation of a multifactor authentication app and reliable high‑speed home internet.
QualificationsOpen to employees of the Superior Court of Essex, New Jersey Vicinage only who have at least one (1) year of permanent service in the following career titles:
- Judiciary Clerk 3
- Judiciary Clerk 3 Bilingual
- Judiciary Account Clerk 2
- Judiciary Account Clerk 2 Bilingual
- Judiciary Clerk 4
- Judiciary Clerk 4 Bilingual
Eligibility for Advancement: Applicants must have achieved all competencies for advancement to Judiciary Clerk 4 as listed on the Career Progression Eligibility Form. No New Jersey Civil Service Commission promotional exam is required for advancement to this title.
Experience Requirement: Three years performing clerical and support services, including keyboarding and one or more of the following: document processing, handling payment fees, recording received monies, reconciling accounts, or scheduling meetings/appointments.
Supplemental InformationPhysical Ability: Ability to climb, stand, stretch, bend, and reach is required. Frequently lift and carry supplies weighing 30‑50 lb (occasionally up to 75 lb).
Driver's License: Required only if vehicle operation is essential to the duties.
Authorization to Work: US citizenship is not required; candidates must be authorized to work in the United States under DHS/USCIS regulations.
Background Check: New hires must consent to a comprehensive background check, including fingerprinting. All data is kept confidential except to inform the individual of findings and subsequent actions.
Residency Law: New hires must establish and maintain a principal residence in New Jersey within one year of employment. Exemptions may be requested through the Employee Residency Review Committee.
