Overview
Position: Director of Administration
Organization: BC Legal Management Association (BCLMA)
Full-Time Position – Hybrid: This is a full-time role with a combination of working from home and being on-site at BCLMA events. Hours will not exceed 35 hours per week, but they are not standard office hours, as some events take place over the lunch hour and in the evening.
Reports to: BCLMA Board of Directors

This role is critical to how BC Legal Management Association runs day-to-day. It is the hub for member experience, event coordination, and operational follow-through. The right person will know the members, understand the legal industry, and build strong relationships across the community.

- Members feel known, welcomed, and connected.
- Events run smoothly, are well attended, and reflect what members want.
- Board and committee initiatives move from ideas to execution.
- Communications are timely, polished, and on-brand.
- Operational details are executed to ensure nothing is overlooked.
- Member engagement:
Cultivate and sustain strong member relationships by welcoming new members, supporting renewals, and promoting a dynamic community. - Events and programming:
Coordinate logistics for events and panels (venue, vendors, registrations, run-of-show, speaker support) and ensure a memorable member experience. - Operations:
Maintain a well-run organization by keeping calendars, timelines, meeting support, follow-ups, documentation, and stakeholder coordination on track. - Communications:
Draft and distribute member communications (event announcements, reminders, updates) that support consistent, on-brand messaging. - Industry connections:
Build and maintain relationships with sponsors, partners, and key contacts across the legal community. - Board support:
Support the Board with planning, execution, and administrative follow-through as needed.
- You will work closely with one part-time support person who assists BC Legal Management Association with administrative and operational tasks.
- Prior involvement with BC Legal Management Association is strongly preferred (for example, a current or past member).
- Strong knowledge of British Columbia’s legal industry and understanding of law firm operations.
- Outgoing, confident communicator who enjoys connecting people.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing deadlines.
- Practical, composed, and solutions-focused when responding to last-minute changes.
- Comfortable working independently while effectively coordinating with a volunteer Board.
