Library Assistant

We are seeking a
Library Assistant to support a federal regulatory organization in Calgary. This contract is anticipated to run from February 2026 to January 2027.

This is a hybrid role requiring Monday–Thursday in office (downtown Calgary) and remote work on Fridays.

This opportunity is ideal for a recent Library & Information Technology graduate or early-career professional looking to gain hands-on experience in a professional library environment.

Security Requirement:
A valid Government of Canada Reliability Security Clearance is required.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Assisting with cataloguing and classification of library materials
• Supporting maintenance of physical and digital collections
• Updating records in the library catalogue (ILS)
• Conducting basic research and helping locate information for internal clients
• Tracking service statistics and maintaining organized records
• Providing front-line support by responding to library inquiries
• Assisting with processing regulatory documents and internal publications
• Supporting general administrative tasks within the Library team

What We’re Looking For

• Diploma or coursework in Library & Information Technology (completed or near completion)
• Familiarity with catalogue databases or Integrated Library Systems (ILS)
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Comfortable working independently in a structured environment
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
