Job Details
This role offers hybrid working, allowing you to work either from home, with agreement from the manager, or at County Hall, Taunton. Somerset Council’s dynamic working strategy will be applied to this position. You will receive 25 days annual leave increasing to 28 days after five years, plus bank holidays. This is a permanent post of 37 hours per week. Part‑time or job‑share applications are considered.
Whatwill I be doing?
- Using and manipulating reporting and recording systems to provide senior officers with information, and developing the knowledge required to support colleagues.
- Taking lead responsibility for organising, administering, and minuting a range of meetings, many of which will be multi‑agency.
- Acting as the first point of contact for enquiries that may be sensitive or complex, resolving or transferring them in a timely manner.
- Maintaining regular contact with professional staff from partner agencies and other public bodies to pass and receive information, make arrangements, or deal with queries.
- Data entry using a variety of platforms, e.g., case management systems.
- Processing work received in and out from schools, parents, agencies, and Health and Social Care.
- Direct liaison with schools and other local authorities.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to prioritise conflicting work demands and make decisions while working at pace.
- Experience of working in an office environment and/or administration role.
- Experience of organisational and administrative support for meetings.
- Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications, particularly Word, Excel, and SharePoint, and a competent level of numeracy and literacy.
- Education to GCSE level (including English and Maths) or hold an NVQ Level 3/QCF Level 2 standard or equivalent.

The salary for the role is Grade 14, ranging from £25,185 to £25,989 per annum.
