We're looking for a detail-oriented cataloger to join our team. Duties include copy cataloging and performing catalog record maintenance and evaluation in a flexible work-from-home environment. If you are interested and have cataloging experience, we’d love to hear from you!
The part-time position will start with a starting hourly wage of $17.80 to $25.87 based on experience. Work is performed remotely with occasional in-person requirements (working up to 100% remotely at times). You will enjoy a workplace where employees work from home in a virtual environment with team members. Hours for this position are flexible and can be set based on other personal and professional responsibilities.
Daytime, evening, and weekend hours are available.
Responsibilities:
- Performs copy cataloging, record enhancement, and authority work as well as routine Bibliographic Services functions.
- Edits and transfers MARC records to SWAN.
- Confirms that MARC records have been transferred correctly to SWAN.
- Reviews and corrects bibliographic records in the SWAN database.
- Performs retrospective cleanup tasks including inquiries of SWAN databases, merging, deleting, and correcting of existing SWAN records.
- Compiles and runs reports as needed.
- Makes independent decisions regarding entry of data.
- Assists with new or special projects.
Qualifications:
- LTA degree or equivalent with two (2) years of related library work experience.
- Good knowledge of English language with special adeptness for spelling and understanding abbreviations.
- Experience with cataloging procedures and the construction of MARC records, RDA, and other LC policies and procedures.
- Ability to catalog materials in multiple formats including but not limited to print, audio, video, and physical objects.
- Knowledge of searching and applying authority headings including LC names, genres, subjects, and titles/series.
- Familiarity with OCLC Connexion and Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with Sirsi Dynix Symphony and Work Flows preferred.
- Ability to carry out oral and written instructions with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to collaborate virtually with other staff on projects and day-to-day tasks, both live and asynchronously.
- This position allows for remote work, however, physical presence in the office may be required, based on departmental scheduling.
