This is a non-exempt position that reports to the Director, California Attorney. The person in this position provides administrative support to attorneys. The paralegal gathers information per attorney's request, prepares legal documents and maintains systems necessary for tracking legal responsibilities and litigation processes for WCF and subsidiaries. The expected salary range for this position is $58,300 to $72,800 depending on experience and education.
Qualifications- At least two years of experience in the Workers' Compensation field or a combination of education and experience. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Excellent dependability, communication, and professionalism.
- Working knowledge of Word and Excel with a minimum typing speed of 50 wpm.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with emphasis in technical writing.
- Experience in using the California EAMS system for filing and case management.
- Maintain diary system for necessary filings for state insurance departments and ensure forms and filings are done within filing date, and in compliance with EAMS requirements.
- Assist in the gathering of material requested in subpoenas, medical record documents, AME/QME material, scheduling appointments, creation of closure memos, calendaring hearings and maintaining calendar, and scheduling worker and doctor deposition.
- Assist in the appropriate and accurate filings of insurance operations and business matters.
- Create exhibits and documents in accordance with the California rules and statutes.
- Maintain existing systems to provide current and accurate information for the operation of legal department functions.
- Communicate with Workers' Compensation Appeals Board regarding required filings as needed.
- This is a remote position.
