The Paralegal / Administrative Assistant will assist General Counsel by providing clerical and research support services including garnishment and subpoena response, bankruptcy proof of claim preparation and filing, document preparation and review; preparation of routine civil pleadings and trial preparation.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities- 85% - Provides confidential support to the legal department including but not limited to preparing legal documents, bankruptcy review and preparing routine pleadings.
- 10% - Maintains proper codes in core system for members involved in legal process
- 5% - Performs other related duties as assigned.
- To meet established expectations of ELGA's Core Factors including but not limited to Accountability, Attitude, Communication, Competence, Continuous Improvement & Innovation and Relationship Building.
- To provide timely, accurate, professional and confidential administrative support as requested.
- To keep manager informed regarding key operating issues affecting the department.
- To have complete accuracy when preparing legal forms and with all transactions such as record updates. To analyze errors in written format on the rare occasion a mistake is made.
- To meet required time deadlines for filing legal documents. Timely follow up of service process.
Experience - One year to three years of similar or related experience.
Education(1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
Interpersonal SkillsWork involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
Other SkillsExcellent organizational and editing skills; typing skills at or above the 75 percentile in speed and 90th percentile in accuracy; highly skilled in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook; shorthand a plus.
Work EnvironmentWork is primarily conducted in the office with flexibility for occasional remote work.
