Position Summary

The Administrative Assistant provides essential support to students, faculty, & staff on all matters related to Registrar’s Office functions including but not limited to: registration (dropping/adding/withdrawing from a course), transcripts, enrollment verifications, address & name changes, as well as program change inquiries.

Tour of Duty:
Monday-Friday 8:45am-5:00pm. This position is located on campus in Bridgewater, MA, however, some remote work on certain days is possible within the parameters of BSU’s remote work policy.

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and committed to fostering an environment of service excellence.

Core Duties
  • Answers phone inquiries and provide excellent customer service
  • Help oversee the registration email shared mailbox to respond to inquiries from students, faculty, and other BSU community members
  • Troubleshoot student registration issues at New Student/Transfer Orientation
  • Process program changes submitted by students to update their program of study
  • Provides customer service for students, faculty and staff; processes registrations, withdrawals, transcript requests, enrollment verifications; serves at the front counter as necessary, etc.
  • Serve as the backup to transcript requests, enrollment verifications, address changes, & name changes
  • Assist with data integrity clean up related to ongoing and end of term processes
  • Maintain and update documentation specific to core duties
Other Responsibilities
  • Scans documents into BDMS for electronic records retention and maintenance
  • Evaluates office policies, processes and procedures, making suggestions for an improved student experience and providing more automated services
  • Assists students or directs students to other services provided at Bridgewater State University:
    Financial Aid, Student Accounts, Academic Achievement Center, Admissions, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
  • Applicants must have at least (A) two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in office management, office administration, business administration or business management, the major duties of which included one or more of the following functions: purchasing, personnel management, budgeting, accounting, records management, work simplification, grants management, contract administration or program management, (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below:
  • An Associate’s or higher degree with a major other than in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.
  • Commitment to customer service excellence: in-person, over the phone, and electronically.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Ability to be a creative problem solver
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills.
