Ipswich Borough Council are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to join the HR team as a Payroll Assistant.
No previous experience in a payroll environment is required for this role, however experience within a customer focussed, fast paced environment handling multiple demands and data types would be beneficial.
You will undertake daily tasks ranging from processing new starters and leavers on 11 monthly payrolls and 1 weekly payroll, assisting existing employees with a range of queries, and supporting the wider team and organisation with statutory and organisational reporting; there is always something new to learn.
You will play a vital role in processing accurate and timely payroll, supporting employees with payroll-related queries, and ensuring compliance with HMRC and pension regulations.
You will need to demonstrate you have good organisational skills, have strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail and effective communication skills.
Full training in every aspect of the role will be provided within the team with the opportunity to complete a payroll apprenticeship qualification in the future.
The role is hybrid with a base at Grafton House with an expectation of attending the office for a minimum of 2 days per week on a Monday and a Friday, with remainder of the week working from home.
