Position: Coordinator for Online Engagement

The Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) seeks a highly organized, technology-savvy self-starter to coordinate and technically execute CIC’s online engagement offerings. The successful candidate will serve as the full-time Coordinator for Online Engagement, supporting CIC’s growing portfolio of webinars and virtual programming for more than 700 nonprofit independent colleges and universities, state-based councils, and higher education affiliates. This position offers an opportunity to develop and expand skills in program coordination, project management, webinar production, and member service while contributing to meaningful initiatives across independent higher education.

The ideal candidate will be both detail-oriented and relationship-focused, capable of managing fast-paced operations while ensuring high-quality online experiences. Experience, comfort, and a strong inclination toward using technology platforms (especially Zoom), data systems, and project management tools to streamline processes will be essential.

The Coordinator for Online Engagement is a staff position based in Washington, DC (with remote flexibility), reporting to the CIC networks team and working closely with team members across the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

CIC’s online events can exceed 1,000 attendees, use dozens of breakout rooms, and include complicated online interactions—all seamlessly executed. Candidates should enjoy coordinating the details of complex online offerings, demonstrate administrative and technical acumen, and possess the skills to support the design, execution, and follow-through of CIC webinars and virtual events.

Examples of projects the position will support include:

  • Primary support for frequent and reoccurring educational webinars for CIC’s AI Ready network, graduate program network, and Belong network
  • Technical execution of other online Zoom events across CIC’s operation
  • Administrative operations related to CIC’s virtual programs, including procedural invoicing and billing tasks
  • Assessment and data management related to CIC online events

With these projects, responsibilities include:

  • Providing operational and administrative support for CIC’s online programming, including communications, scheduling, correspondence, and follow-up
  • Coordinating and technically managing webinars: setting agendas, assembling required participants, running rehearsals as needed, and executing smooth, efficient day‑of delivery
  • Serving as primary technical support during webinars, ensuring high-quality facilitation, audiovisual performance, timing, and troubleshooting
  • Managing online event details, including registrations, link creation, account preparation, etc.
  • Managing invoicing and related administrative workflows for designated programs
  • Collaborating with CIC program staff to organize and enhance online engagement opportunities
  • Supporting other virtual or in‑person activities as assigned, including occasional travel to CIC conferences and seminars
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of CIC’s online engagement infrastructure, documentation, and member experience
  • Assessing online sessions and related offerings
  • Maintenance of online records related to these events
  • Expanding into broader project management support for the association’s online offerings

Other responsibilities throughout CIC’s portfolio are possible as assigned.

Full‑time CIC staff are based in the Washington, DC office, with the option to work remotely on two designated days per week. Work hours are flexible around designated “core hours” (10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.). Preference is given to candidates able to be physically in the office three days a week.

The expected salary range for this position is between $65,000 and $70,000.
