Position Overview
Do you have a sharp eye for detail and a knack for navigating complex regulations? If so, the Office of the Budget is excited to welcome a diligent and reliable Fiscal Assistant to join our team of professionals. In this role, you will do more than just process paperwork; you will serve as the guardian of Commonwealth travel standards. You will perform critical pre‑audits of travel expenses, ensuring every mile and meal aligns with state policies.
Descriptionof Work
As a Fiscal Assistant, you will conduct pre‑audit processing of designated travel expense reports submitted to the Bureau of Commonwealth Payroll Operations, ensuring consistent compliance with all applicable rules and regulations. A comprehensive understanding and interpretation of Commonwealth travel regulations and the unique operational aspects of each department is imperative.
- Assist with the review and pre‑auditing of high‑risk areas on travel expense reports including hotel and car rental justifications, miscellaneous expenses, foreign travel, and expense reports for priority and non‑Commonwealth employees.
- Ensure optimal customer service while fielding inquiries from agency employees, agency travel arrangers, and others regarding travel expense reports, interpretations of travel regulations, preparation of travel reports, and the status of travel expense reimbursements.
- Full‑time employment
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 60‑minute lunch.
- Alternate work schedule (AWS) may be available upon successful completion of the probationary period.
- Telework:
Opportunity to work from home full‑time, with occasional in‑office days as needed. Must have a securely configured high‑speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. Telework is subject to change. - Salary:
In some cases, the starting salary may be non‑negotiable.
- Two years of experience performing bookkeeping or clerical accounting work; or
- An associate degree in accounting or business administration including or supplemented by six credits in accounting; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree or credits.
