Job Overview
The Botulinum Authorization Coordinator is responsible for obtaining all prior authorizations for all botulinum toxin procedures, verifying patient insurances, discussing patients’ financial responsibility for injections, and keeping an open line of communication with the other botulinum toxin staff (Medical Assistants, Providers, and Managers). Periodically the coordinator meets with botulinum toxin representatives to stay abreast of updates and changes regarding medications, insurance criteria, authorization issues, specialty pharmacy issues, savings programs, and reimbursement policies.
WorkFrom Home Requirements
This is a remote (work‑from‑home) position that may require occasional on‑site visits in Centerville, OH. The employee must live in the Dayton/Cincinnati, OH area and be able to travel to the office as needed. All training will be conducted on‑site or remotely. A work‑from‑home agreement will be required, and the employee must return to the office whenever requested by management. All necessary equipment is provided by the Dayton Center for Neurological Disorders.
A site visit will be conducted prior to the employee beginning work from home to ensure a HIPAA‑compliant environment.
- Answer a multi‑line call queue.
- Monitor and perform authorizations for all botulinum toxin patients, including monthly reports, eligibility checks, and insurance updates.
- Submit authorization requests for new and re‑check patients.
- Document detailed cases of the authorization process for each patient and contact insurers when authorizations are ineligible, errored, or otherwise required.
- Verify scheduling accuracy, place appropriate notes, and schedule consults and re‑check appointments based on diagnosis.
- Confirm all botulinum toxin appointments with patients.
- Assist the clinical team with administrative duties.
- Order botulinum toxin monthly, run reports on patient appointments, send correspondence via patient portal, create patient cases for deliveries, initiate deliveries with pharmacies, and educate patients on the process.
Base Pay Range: $18.00/hr – $20.00/hr, based on experience. The starting pay range is an estimate; final compensation depends on qualifications and experience.

Education & Experience- Required:
High School diploma and 2 years of medication and/or procedure prior authorization experience. - Preferred:
Medical Billing Diploma/Certification.
- Required:
Valid Driver's License. - Preferred:
Medical Billing Certificate.
- Language Ability:
Read, interpret documents; write routine reports; speak effectively. - Math Ability:
Perform arithmetic and compute rates, ratios, and percentages. - Reasoning Ability:
Apply common sense to instructions and solve problems with multiple variables. - Computer
Skills:
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Google Docs.
Multi‑line telephone, facsimile machine, copier, postage meter, calculator, computer, printer.
Work Environment & Physical DemandsWork environment is usually moderate noise. Duties include sitting, talking, hearing; occasionally standing, walking, reaching, and lifting up to 20 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
