Social Medicine and Community Projects Administrator

Position overview:

The Social Medicine and Community Projects Administrator provides comprehensive administrative and program support to UCSC's undergraduate Global and Community Health (GCH) Program's Taskforce courses and allied program operations. The Administrator collaborates with faculty, advisors, and campus staff to support students' academic success and to ensure course delivery and completion in consultation with GCH leadership. Reports to the GCH Managing Director.

Job Responsibilities
  • Administer GCH's Taskforce course program and activities, including finance, facilities, onboarding and support, payroll, space planning, student services, human resources, communications, or information technology.
  • Coordinate the dissemination of Taskforce reports and allied news updates on the GCH website.
  • Gather and analyze Taskforce course data; prepare reports or analyses of operational activities and evaluate current and proposed services.
  • Support UCSC faculty, community-based lecturers and guest speakers in their contributions to Task Force instruction, including end-of-quarter judging and celebration events; assist and coordinate lecturer onboarding via the appropriate HR platform.
  • Liaise with local community-based organizations and community leaders to procure Task Force instructors and facilitate internships, with guidance from GCH faculty leadership.
  • Support dissemination of student research and publications; develop and maintain a Task Force repository for instructors (syllabus library, photo library, sample final reports/posters).
  • Collaborate with GCH major advisors and affiliated faculty to ensure comprehensive student support and compliance with university policies; assist with Task Force report preparation and dissemination of program information.
  • Coordinate travel, honoraria, and logistics for guest speakers and student field visits; process financial transactions for Task Force activities; provide backup to program staff as needed.
  • Organize and facilitate Task Force program events; support GCH news communications and web pages; coordinate student field visits to Task Force-relevant sites.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to engage with diverse community-based organizations and collaborate across teams.
  • Good judgment in handling confidential matters and FERPA-related information.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with individuals from diverse cultural and academic backgrounds; strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with common computer applications and online collaboration tools; demonstrated event planning skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Spanish language proficiency.
  • Interest in global health, community health, and community-based participatory approaches.
Special Conditions of Employment
  • Selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check.

  • Hybrid work schedule; ability to work from a home/remote office and comply with UCSC telecommuting requirements.
  • Occasional evenings and weekends as directed.
  • Completion of required UC compliance training and vaccination policy adherence.
  • Mandated reporter per CANRA; will be required to report suspected child abuse or neglect as defined by CANRA.
Appointment Information
  • Budgeted Salary: $36.12 - $40.37 hourly. Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications, and experience.
