What are we looking for?

The Junior Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records related to the Accounts Payable process, actively supporting the Purchase-to-Pay cycle, and ensuring that all invoices are recorded in compliance with regulatory standards.

This person will also support credit control activities.

The role involves contributing to month-end and year-end closings, performing administrative accounting tasks, and ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial processes.

This position requires strong attention to detail, solid organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively, autonomously, and with versatility as part of a small team.

What You’ll Do

The responsibilities below are presented in order of priority, reflecting the primary focus of the role.

Account Payables Management
  • Ensure the accuracy of general ledger accounts by verifying that all journal entries, adjustments, and reconciliations are properly recorded.
  • Perform regular account reviews to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Support the end-to-end Purchase-to-Pay process.
Month-End & Year-End Close
  • Contribute to the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring financial data is accurate and delivered on time.
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations during the closing process.
Credit Control
  • Monitor overdue balances and follow-up to ensure timely collection.
  • Support credit control reporting and analysis.
Administrative Duties
  • Coordinate and manage communications mainly with vendors, but also with customers and other stakeholders regarding financial inquiries.
  • Ensure the accounting department’s administrative procedures are followed and updated when necessary.
Process Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Contribute to the optimization of the new accounting system (Odoo) and support the implementation of additional functionalities where relevant.
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • Minimum 2 years of progressive experience in accounting roles.
  • Good knowledge of Belgian GAAP and general accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Odoo is a plus) and MS Office suite (mostly Excel).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • French speaker with good command of English. Ability to read documents in the other national language.
  • High level of integrity and commitment to confidentiality in handling financial information.
