We are seeking a Junior Accountant to assist with accounting functions for the company. This includes assisting in the core accounting processes, keeping in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
Candidates must have prior experience working for a federal government contractor and have experience supporting Cost Plus, T&M, and Fixed Price type contracts.
Responsibilities- The Junior Accountant will report directly to the Controller
- Perform Accounts Payable functions, including entering vouchers into accounting system Unanet and processing payments
- Perform Billing and Accounts Receivable duties including invoice creation and submission
- Perform day-to-day bookkeeping duties including general ledger maintenance, periodic timesheet reviews, expense report processing, and charge code assignments as needed
- Coordinate with HR to ensure payroll is accurately processed in accordance with time deadlines
- Perform corporate card transaction approvals and reconciliations
- Perform month-end closing duties in a timely manner, including bank reconciliations and financial postings
- Prepare monthly financial statements to present to Controller and Executive team
- Assist in internal and external financial audits as needed
- After an initial training period onsite, some remote work may be available
- 3+ years of relevant accounting experience working for a government contractor (sub 7+ years, no degree)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)
- Experience in federal government contracting and accounting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Hands-on experience with Unanet strongly preferred
- Experience with Payroll Processing in Paylocity, ADP, or similar system
- Adequate knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
- Experience with creating financial statements
- Experience with general ledger functions and supporting the month-end/year-end close process
- Candidates must have prior experience working for a federal government contractor and have experience supporting Cost Plus, T&M, and Fixed Price type contracts
