Controller | Austin, TX | Salary Range: $,000 + Bonus

Sage Search Partners is seeking a Controller for a PE-backed healthcare/pharmacy services organization in Austin, TX (hybrid). This role will own the end-to-end accounting function across a multi-entity platform, with a heavy focus on accelerating close cadence, strengthening consolidation/intercompany processes, and driving post-acquisition integration while serving as the Net Suite and technical GAAP leader.

In addition to being a proven Controller (or equivalent senior accounting leader), the ideal candidate will bring 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with a strong public accounting (Big 4 or similar audit) foundation, CPA strongly preferred, and a track record supporting PE-backed and acquisitive environments. Experience with multi-entity consolidations, intercompany accounting, M&A diligence and post-close integration, and Net Suite ownership/optimization is highly valued;

exposure to healthcare/pharmacy operations, billing, and/or inventory accounting is a plus.

Position Scope
  • Own and accelerate the month-end close across multiple U.S. entities, improving speed, accuracy, and consistency of reporting
  • Lead consolidation and intercompany processes, including eliminations and standardization of close schedules and reconciliation discipline
  • Serve as the day-to-day accounting execution partner to the CFO, delivering sponsor-ready reporting packages and insights
  • Act as the technical accounting lead for U.S. GAAP matters, ensuring appropriate treatment of complex transactions and policies
  • Drive finance integration for acquisitions, including post-close accounting cleanup, opening/closing balance sheet work, and coordination with third-party valuation partners as needed
  • Take ownership of the ERP and adjacent finance applications (Net Suite and supporting sub-systems), identifying process improvements, automation opportunities, and control enhancements
  • Lead external-facing compliance work streams including annual audit, tax coordination, and 401(k) audit management
  • Establish strong cash visibility and banking routines, including daily cash positioning, forecasting cadence, and lender-related reporting support
  • Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and operating procedures to support scale and sponsor expectations
  • Provide hands-on leadership to a lean accounting team, developing talent and ensuring day-to-day execution across AP, GL, and related workflows
Client Requirements
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including senior-level leadership responsibilities
  • Prior experience as a Controller or in a comparable leadership role owning close and financial reporting
  • CPA strongly preferred; bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance required (advanced degree a plus)
  • Public accounting audit background (Big 4 strongly preferred; comparable public audit experience acceptable)
  • Demonstrated success in a PE-backed, high-growth, and/or acquisitive environment with high visibility reporting expectations
  • Experience with M&A, including due diligence exposure and post-close integration of systems/processes
  • Multi-entity consolidation experience, including intercompany accounting and eliminations
  • Net Suite experience strongly preferred; ability to own optimization and process improvements within the ERP environment
  • Strong U.S. GAAP knowledge and comfort serving as the internal technical accounting point person
  • Ability to thrive in a hands-on, fast-paced environment with urgency, accountability, and sponsor-ready communication
  • Austin hybrid expectation: 3 days onsite/2 days work from home; may be open to out-of-town candidates if available to travel regularly to Austin.
Company Benefits
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage (multiple medical plan options)
  • 401(k) with 100% match on the first 3%
  • EAP and pet insurance
