Position: Revenue Auditor 2

What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
  • Conduct audits of tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and business organizations
  • Analyze tax records to identify irregularities or non-compliance with tax laws
  • Review and ensure accuracy of tax records in accordance with regulations
  • Prepare detailed audit reports summarizing findings and recommendations
  • Communicate effectively with taxpayers and their representatives regarding audit results
What is Required (Qualifications):
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in accounting or finance, including at least eighteen semester hours in accounting
  • One year of full-time work experience in accounting, tax, or financial auditing
  • Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate, or a Master's degree in accounting, taxation, business administration, or a related field
  • Current or previous experience in the state executive branch, including eighteen months of full-time work as a Revenue Examiner 2
  • Ability to conduct independent audits and apply critical thinking and analytical skills

  • Experience in preparing or auditing tax returns
  • Strong understanding of state tax codes and regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions and solve complex problems
  • Proficiency in accounting and auditing theory, methods, standards, and procedures
  • Excellent written communication skills suitable for various audiences
