Corporate Accountant Position

The Metro Vancouver based Corporate Accountant position is an opportunity to join a fast‑growing, project‑based business in a high‑ownership role working directly with the VP Finance. You will run key parts of month‑end, elevate AP/AR and project billing discipline, and help build processes as we scale. This role is ideal for an accountant who is strong in Excel, enjoys being hands‑on, and thrives in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.

Functions

and Responsibilities
  • Lead the month‑end close, including checklists, accruals, prepaids, amortization schedules, and account reconciliations.
  • Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts; ensure accurate coding and supporting documentation.
  • Complete bank and corporate credit card reconciliations; investigate variances, ensure accurate coding and documentation, and correct errors promptly.
  • Review AP and AR prepared by administrative staff; process vendor payments, reconcile billings to project budgets and ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Communicate with project managers to confirm project forecasts and ensure timely, accurate invoicing.
  • Resolve accounting questions and discrepancies with internal teams and external parties as required.
  • Prepare and file GST returns and payroll remittances; coordinate corporate tax support with external accountants and assist with year‑end review engagements.
  • Support budgeting, cash flow tracking, forecasts, and variance analysis; provide ad‑hoc financial analysis and support the VP Finance as requested.
  • Improve and document accounting processes; support implementation of new tools/software.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA candidate or intention to pursue CPA designation (candidates with a CPA designation will be prioritized).
Skills and Experience
  • 3‑5 years of accounting experience in either private or public practice.
  • Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals and month‑end close.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work under deadlines, and manage multiple projects.
  • Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint accounting software is an asset.
  • Experience in a transaction services and mergers and acquisitions is considered an asset.
  • Experience supporting U.S. monthly and quarterly filings (e.g., sales tax and related compliance) is considered an asset.
  • Experience with project‑based businesses is an asset.
