Property Accountant – Hybrid (Commercial Real Estate)
A commercial real estate organization is seeking a Property Accountant to support the financial operations of its retail and mixed‑use property portfolio. This role requires strong property accounting experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities within a hybrid work environment.
Important Requirements
- MUST have recent experience with Yardi and/or MRI.
- MUST have CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliation experience.
- Experience in retail or mixed‑use commercial real estate accounting is required.
About the Role
The Property Accountant will manage the day‑to‑day accounting functions for assigned commercial properties, including financial reporting, tenant billing, AP/AR processing, and ongoing support to property management teams. Responsibilities include frequent interaction with internal departments and tenants, requiring strong communication and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly financial statements for assigned properties.
- Process, invoice, and record all revenue items including fees and commissions.
- Code, index, and process all property expenses, including utilities.
- Prepare reimbursements, insurance allocations, and property‑level payroll entries.
- Prepare CAM reconciliations and issue quarterly and annual CAM billings.
- Issue tenant real estate tax billings and percentage rent billings.
- Prepare monthly journal entries using accrual accounting.
- Support AP and AR functions, including utility invoice workflows and daily deposits.
- Assist with preparation and mailing of 1099 forms.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- Required:
Yardi and/or MRI proficiency. - Required:
Proven experience preparing CAM reconciliations. - Strong understanding of general ledger activity, financial statements, and accrual accounting.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment with strong attention to detail.
