Position Overview
The Accounting Manager owns the day-to-day accounting operations for Forge Constructors with a heavy focus on construction accounting, job cost integrity, subcontractor pay management, and financial reporting accuracy. This person ensures that project financials, pay applications, vendor payments, and internal reporting are timely, accurate, and aligned with how projects actually perform in the field. This role partners closely with Project Managers, Operations, and leadership to create strong financial visibility across all projects.
This position is onsite Monday – Thursday in Addison TX with the option to work from home on Fridays.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and maintain accurate job cost reporting across all active projects
- Monitor committed costs, change orders, and cost-to-complete forecasting
- Reconcile and prepare Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and support monthly reporting
- Lead the monthly close process, ensuring general ledger accuracy and timely financial statements
- Manage owner billings and pay application processes
- Track accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding payments
- Oversee accounts payable workflow, including subcontractor and vendor payments
- Review and process subcontractor pay applications and lien waivers in compliance with subcontract agreements
- Ensure accurate revenue recognition tied to project progress
- Partner with Project Managers to ensure budgets, cost codes, and job setup are accurate and aligned with field operations
- Maintain organized documentation for audit, lender, and insurance reporting
- Improve accounting processes, documentation, and internal controls
- Ensure best practices within Sage Timberline (Sage 300 CRE)
- Create scalable workflows between accounting and operations
- Support leadership with reporting, analysis, and special projects
- Help train and guide junior accounting staff as the team grows
Qualifications
- 5+ years of accounting experience, with direct construction accounting experience required
- Strong knowledge of job cost accounting, WIP schedules, and pay applications
- Sage 300 CRE experience strongly preferred
- Experience with subcontractor billing, lien waivers, and compliance documentation
- Strong understanding of AP, AR, and GL management in a construction environment
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively with Project Managers and operations teams
