What to Expect (Job Responsibilities)
  • Review audits completed by lower-level auditors to ensure accuracy and proper interpretation of laws and procedures
  • Resolve tax questions from auditors or taxpayers, providing coaching and counseling to lower-level auditors
  • Conduct complex business income or RAC tax audits, independently performing investigations
  • Communicate findings to taxpayers or their representatives through various channels
  • Assist in developing selective audit criteria
What is Required (Qualifications)
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in accounting or finance, and experience equal to two and a half years of full-time work in professional accounting or financial auditing
  • Experience performing or reviewing audits and following audit procedures
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with client-facing communication, resolving complaints, disputes, or escalations
  • Understanding of applicable laws, legal codes, administrative rules, and regulations
  • Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to two years of full-time work as a Revenue Auditor 2
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Experience training processes and procedures, answering questions, and mentoring peers
  • Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate
  • Master’s degree in accounting, taxation, business administration, or a related field
