. Candidates must be a United States Citizen or Green Card Holder. Candidates must be able to work fully onsite in Plymouth, MI. There is no option for a hybrid or remote work schedule.
The Accounting Manager will join our client’s accounting and financial operations in a dynamic manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in cost accounting, inventory management, and purchasing, preferably within a commercial printing, packaging, or related manufacturing company. This individual will assist in overseeing the day-to-day accounting functions while providing financial insights that help translate data into operational improvements.
The Accounting Manager will work closely with senior leadership to ensure the company’s financial goals align with its strategic and production objectives.
- Oversee accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, job costing, and month-end closing.
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- Develop and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
- Partner with senior leadership to prepare annual budgets, forecasts, and profitability analyses by department and product line.
- Manufacturing & Inventory Accounting
- Manage aspects of inventory valuation, including raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods.
- Collaborate with production and warehouse teams to ensure accurate material usage, waste tracking, and costing.
- Oversee purchasing functions to ensure effective vendor management, cost control, and alignment with production needs.
- Develop and refine standard costing models for estimating, pricing, and margin analysis.
- Reconcile physical inventory counts and cycle counts with accounting records to maintain real-time accuracy.
- Lead and mentor accounting staff, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with department heads (Production, Purchasing, Client Experience, etc.) to provide financial insights that drive operational efficiency.
- Work closely with the corporate finance team to ensure compliance with corporate reporting, audit, and tax requirements.
- Serve as liaison with external auditors, banks, and insurance providers.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
- Over five years of progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing environment; commercial printing or packaging industry experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success in inventory control, purchasing oversight, and cost accounting.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing workflow and its financial implications.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (EFI Pace or similar manufacturing ERP preferred).
- Advanced Excel and data analysis skills; ability to build and interpret financial models.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
