Staff Accountant – Real Estate; WFH

$60,000 - $70,000 + bonus

Are you ready to grow your accounting career with a company that genuinely values balance, collaboration, and long-term development? Our client—a well-established and steadily growing real estate investment and development firm—is adding a Staff Accountant – Real Estate to its Birmingham team.

This is a newly created role driven by continued growth, offering hands-on exposure to multiple areas of real estate accounting. You’ll work alongside a supportive, experienced team, receive strong mentorship, and enjoy the flexibility to work from home on Fridays once training is complete.

• Perform day-to-day accounting for a portfolio of properties, including general ledger activity and bank reconciliations
• Maintain accurate property-level financials and assist with month-end and year-end close
• Prepare financial statements and management reports
• Partner with development, property management, and asset management teams to support active projects
• Assist with budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis
• Support annual audits and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 1+ years of accounting experience (real estate or property accounting a plus)
• Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
• Strong Excel skills; experience with Yardi, MRI, or similar systems preferred
• Detail-oriented, organized, and eager to learn in a collaborative environment
