ResponsibilitiesThe Senior Accountant, reporting to the Assistant Controller, is responsible for leading revenue recognition and payroll accounting processes. This role requires a detail-oriented individual to ensure accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant reporting, support month-end close and audits, and partner cross-functionally with Sales, Business Development, HR, and external partners.
Essential Functions- Revenue recognition: lead revenue recognition in accordance with US GAAP (ASC 606); review contracts including digital sales, licensing, royalties, and work-for-hire; prepare and review revenue schedules, deferrals, accruals, and journal entries; reconcile revenue accounts and investigate variances; support internal and parent company revenue reporting.
- Payroll processing and accounting: oversee payroll journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations; partner with HR and payroll providers to ensure accurate processing; allocate payroll expenses by department and project; support 401(k) and benefits-related accounting.
- Month-end close and reporting: support monthly and quarterly close processes; prepare and review journal entries and reconciliations; perform variance analysis for revenue and payroll accounts.
- Audit, compliance and controls: support internal and external audits; maintain accounting policies and internal controls.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 8+ years of accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, especially ASC 606
- Payroll accounting experience
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience with Net Suite and payroll systems preferred
