Overview

This contract Insurance Accountant role offers the opportunity to contribute specialized accounting expertise in a fully remote environment while supporting critical financial reporting and compliance activities. The position provides meaningful exposure to insurance accounting operations, including GAAP-based reporting, data reconciliation, and quarterly close activities. It is well-suited for an experienced insurance accounting professional who enjoys analytical work, collaboration, and the ability to make an immediate impact during key reporting cycles

Responsibilities
  • Handling data calls and preparing requested financial information
  • Reconciling data to the general ledger and automated journal entries
  • Investigating variances and collaborating with team members on resolution
  • Assisting with monthly close activities as needed
  • Preparing and supporting quarterly journal entries
  • Assisting with quarterly statistical and tax reporting requirements
  • Providing financial reports and supporting documentation to internal stakeholders
  • Performing other general accounting and financial support tasks as assigned

This is a contract, fully remote position.

Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in insurance accounting
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and insurance-related financial reporting
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to research and resolve issues independently
  • Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated initiative, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong critical thinking skills and a natural curiosity to analyze financial data and processes
