This position will be responsible for performing various accounting functions to include Vacation Ownership Interest revenue recognition for various ownership products, Cost of Inventory Sales reporting, Provision for Loan Loss, operational reporting and analysis of actual, budget, and forecast performance, as well as complex fee for service accounting. This individual will also research and provide recommendations on how to record complex accounting transactions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
They will also take the lead on identifying efficiencies, gathering requirements, and working with IT and Operations to successfully test and deploy projects. The Accountant IV will also be expected to cultivate collaborative relationships with peers in IT, Operations, and external partners. This individual will utilize strong verbal and written communication as well as project leadership skills to drive a culture of change among Finance and our many partners.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Prepare, review and oversee monthly reconciliations, perform research and/or assists other team members on researching complex ledger accounts to minimize risk and protect company assets and document the findings for management.
- Create and record complex journal entries in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and with respective supporting documentation with an understanding of the financial statement impact.
- Provide guidance to other team members including coaching, mentoring, and possible supervision.
- Perform comprehensive research and analysis. Use financial & accounting acumen to analyze and interpret data and make recommendations on accounting treatment of various business transactions including revenue recognition and complex fee for service agreements.
- Development, implement and ensure compliance with company’s policies and procedures. Establishes “Best Practices” and formulate/document solutions as it relates to creating efficiencies.
- Special projects and ad-hoc reporting as required. (i.e. Collecting requirements for Finance technology projects, recommending efficiency opportunities, managing the delivery of project requirements, testing and deploying projects in cooperation with IT and Operations, and driving a culture of change. )
- May or may not have direct reports assigned. If so, position will entail overseeing the work product of others, assigning projects and priorities, responding to questions and coaching, and evaluating performance.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required. MBA or relevant graduate degree a plus.
- Minimum four (4) years of relevant accounting experience.
- Timeshare/Hospitality industry a plus.
- Public Accounting experience a plus.
- CPA license or CPA candidate a plus.
- Proficient in Excel at an intermediate or higher level.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, detail-orientated and the ability to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines.
- Must be able to communicate effectively (written and oral).
- Must be a team player with a positive attitude.
- Must be able to establish productive relationships with internal and external partners.
- Ability to exercise judgment, handle multiple projects simultaneously with excellent problem solving skills.
- Experience with cross functional project development and implementation.
This position will be based in office Monday to Thursday at 9271 S. John Young Parkway, Orlando, FL 32819 and on Friday we work from home.
