Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a highly motivated Staff Accountant to join our team in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. This is a contract-to-permanent opportunity within a reputable non-profit organization. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to handle financial operations efficiently. This position offers a dynamic mix of onsite and remote work depending on the employment arrangement.

Responsibilities:

- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions promptly and accurately.

- Manage payroll tasks using Paylocity, ensuring timely and error-free payroll processing.

- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.

- Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger.

- Assist with maintaining and updating financial records in Quick Books.

- Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with accounting standards and organizational policies.

- Support month-end and year-end closing activities.

- Handle financial documentation and reporting for audits and reviews.

- Provide assistance with ad hoc financial tasks and special projects as needed. Requirements - At least 1 year of accounting experience, preferably within a non-profit organization.

- Proficiency in Quick Books is highly desirable.

- Familiarity with Paylocity for payroll processing is a strong advantage.

- Solid understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger processes.

- Ability to perform bank and credit card reconciliations accurately and efficiently.

- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks.

- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new accounting systems and processes.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred but not required.
