Accounts Payable Specialist

Overview

Accounts Payable Specialist. Ensures for appropriate processing of Sentara payables. This includes administering Sentara policies and procedures, electronic matching, ensuring proper back up and approval for processing employee reimbursements, travel and authorization for payments. Also performs invoice research and works closely with Materials Management, departments and vendors to administer contracts.

First (Days)

• Ensure proper processing of Sentara payables in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Conduct electronic matching; secure proper backup and approvals for employee reimbursements, travel, and payments.
• Perform invoice research; collaborate with Materials Management, departments, and vendors to administer contracts.
• Set up and monitor recurring payments; determine and calculate sales tax; collect 1099 information.
• Ensure proper setup, accruals, entry and balancing of journal entries to the general ledger.
• Process and reconcile manual and void checks and place stops as needed; conduct audits on out-of-town travel.
• Communicate with all levels of management on accounts payable issues and concerns.
• Transmit invoices via Excel, CD, EDI; manage EFT and ACH transactions.
• Maintain knowledge of state sales tax rules, Sentara taxable/nontaxable entities, 1099 regulations, and accrual accounting systems.

• High School diploma or equivalent

• No required certifications or licensure

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Knowledge of state sales tax rules and Sentara’s taxable and nontaxable entities; 1099 regulations; accrual accounting and general ledger system (highly preferred)
• Three (3) years of strong Accounts Payable experience required
• Tax knowledge strongly preferred
• Hybrid position at Sentara Park — two days Work From Home and three in office
• Normal schedule for this position 8-5pm
