Job DescriptionThe Contract Insurance Accountant supports the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial information, reporting, and analysis. This role is responsible for general accounting functions with a strong emphasis on insurance accounting and GAAP compliance. The position works closely with internal teams to reconcile data, resolve variances, and support financial reporting needs.
- Handling data calls and preparing requested financial information
- Reconciling data to the general ledger and automated journal entries
- Investigating variances and collaborating with team members on resolution
- Assisting with monthly close activities as needed
- Preparing and supporting quarterly journal entries
- Assisting with quarterly statistical and tax reporting requirements
- Providing financial reports and supporting documentation to internal stakeholders
- Performing other general accounting and financial support tasks as assigned
This is a contract, fully remote position.
Qualifications- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or equivalent relevant experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in insurance accounting
- Strong understanding of GAAP and insurance-related financial reporting
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to research and resolve issues independently
- Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated initiative, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines
- Strong critical thinking skills and a natural curiosity to analyze financial data and processes
