Construction Accountant, Powell, TN

We are searching for a Construction Accountant to maintain thorough and accurate accounting records. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-sufficient, and capable of performing full-cycle accounting tasks. • Own accounts payable from entry to disbursement, including approval monitoring to achieve timely payment
• Ensure subcontractor payment requests are supported by contracts, insurance coverages, and lien releases
• Reconcile monthly accounts payable statements
• Prepare monthly and quarterly sales tax returns
• Record monthly inventory activity including cost determination and related journal entries
• Manage fixed asset acquisitions and disposals, including vehicle registration, insurance enrollment, and internal rental rate setup
• Maintain and reconcile select general ledger accounts
• Prepare cost analysis for project closeouts
• Assist the CFO with general accounting and administrative duties as needed to support financial visibility, month and year end close, insurance audits, and systems enhancements
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and establish process documentation

• At least three years’ accounting experience or an Associate’s Degree in Accounting
• Master of Excel, Proficient in MS Office, general familiarity with construction accounting software
• Outstanding written/verbal communication and organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines
• Excellent customer service skills required when working with different departments and internal/external customers

• Must be a collaborator, self-motivated, flexible, and detail oriented
• Maintain confidentiality of company information
• Ability to pass a background check.
