Responsibilities- As the Accounts Payable Clerk, core responsibilities include processing vendor payments promptly and accurately, verifying outgoing payments, addressing payment inquiries in collaboration with vendors and fiscal officers, and closely working with different departments to secure payment approvals.
- Monitor invoices and open purchases; retrieve new invoices, route invoices to departments for approvals, inquire about invoice status weekly, and issue payments in a timely manner once approved. This requires significant organizational skills and attention to detail.
- At least two years of increasingly responsible Accounts Payable, banking, and tax related work experience; college coursework may substitute for some experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable, banking, and cash control methods; proficiency in automated accounting systems, electronic spreadsheets, and high-volume data entry, including 10-key skills.
- Excellent organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, high ethical standards, and a strong commitment to accuracy and compliance.
- Preferred: working knowledge of SCT Banner and banking software; experience navigating UA, BOR, Federal, and State regulations; understanding of GAAP and contractual obligations; demonstrated customer service and conflict resolution skills.
- Associate’s degree in applied Accounting or related field and three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Customer service, conflict resolution, and bank software training preferred.
This position is located on the UAF Troth Yeddha' campus in Fairbanks, Alaska. This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position with a competitive salary and a full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 78, based on education and experience.
