Staff Accountant – Hayes & Associates, LLC

Hayes & Associates, LLC is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join our growing firm. The position would work out of our Omaha, Nebraska office, but offers great flexibility with the opportunity for a partial remote working arrangement up to three days a week. This position will serve a diverse client base and is responsible for providing a variety of accounting and auditing functions in support of client objectives within the accounting, tax and/or audit service areas.

• Prepare, organize, and record financial transactions.
• Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting services.
• Organize and update financial records.
• Assist in planning, risk assessment, and preparation of financial statements.
• Prepare tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, sole proprietors, and more.
• Respond to IRS notices.
• Meet with clients to do business consulting and tax planning.
• Prepare documentation for external auditors.
• Perform review, compilation, preparation, audit, and agree-upon procedure engagements.

• Possess a BS/BA degree in accounting.
• Ability to research technical accounting and auditing issues.
• Work with team to identify issues and provide timely solutions and consultation for our clients.
• Demonstrate excellence in communication skills, data gathering, analysis, reporting, and process improvement.
• Meet assigned deadlines or budgets and provide advance warning of problems.
• Be self-motivated and effectively work independently.
• Possess excellent client relationship skills and time management skills.
• Be organized with the ability to execute on multiple, concurrent client engagements.
• Familiarity with accounting and auditing software including Quick Books, CCH Pro System fx Engagement, and PPC are a plus.
• Previous accounting experience or experience in performing nonprofit and governmental accounting is highly desired.

Hayes & Associates, LLC is seeking a Staff Accountant with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business-related field and 0-2 years of experience in public accounting or general accounting. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. CPA certification is a plus. This position will be responsible for providing accounting and auditing support to clients, including tax preparation and financial statement analysis.
